Moto Z And Moto Z Force have also got their Android Nougat system update. With Vulcan API’s help, the smartphones feel more smooth, and the battery now lasts longer than before.

How Motorola achieved that with that kind of specs is an impressive thing. The Moto Z and Moto Z Force don’t have 3.5 mm headphone jacks(a problem for thin smartphones). However, you can plug a USB type C to 3.5mm converter to use your 3.5mm headphones

But the exciting thing is MotoMods, and Both new phones have 16 pin magnetic connectors on their back, which a variety of MotoMods can connect to. So far, that includes a pico projector, a JBL speaker, and various battery packs from Incipio, Tumi, and Kate Spade. Moto says the Mods will work on next year’s phones, and It is still unclear how much MotoMods they are going to launch. For more information about MotoMods, read below.

Talking about the specs, both Moto Z and Moto Z Force has a new quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor running up to 2.2GHz with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. On the screen side, they have 5.5 inches AMOLED display with a Quad HD resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels (535 pixels per inch).

Surprisingly Moto Z weighs 136 grams, which is far less than most of the flagships out there. Moto Z has a 2600 mAh Li-Pol battery; It can charge up to 50% in just 20 minutes of charge. Which Motorola claims to be the world’s fastest charging technology.

Talking about the camera, the Moto Z has a 12-megapixel rear-facing shooter with an f/1.8 aperture lens, optical image stabilization(OIS), and laser autofocus. Its front camera is a 5-megapixel shooter. The rear camera also features a color-corrected flash with dual LEDs and a 1.12um pixel size.

Moto Z Force is thicker (6.9mm) and more substantial. Still, it also has a significantly larger battery (3,500mAh compared to the Z’s 2,600mAh) and a 21-megapixel pixel rear facing the camera with phase detection autofocus and Deep Trench Isolation (a technique Apple used for the iPhone 6S camera). The Moto Z Force’s screen also uses Motorola’s Shattershield technology, which has also been upgraded and claims that it is more resistant to cracks and scratches than Corning’s Gorilla Glass. It can even survive 16 feet falling.

Moto Mods

Following the concept of modular phones like Google’s Project Ara and LG G5, Motorola has come up with something called MotoMods. These are the accessories attached to a 16 pins dock, which is present at the lower back of the device to add some extra feature or functionality. The MotoMods snap onto the phone using integrated magnets. MotoMods works with the new Motorola flagship devices, Moto Z and Moto Z Force, and reportedly for Moto Z Play.

Developers will pick up some reference kit used for designing custom mods when the Moto Z gets available. Motorola showcased two prototype mods, and one was an LED-lit backplate that responds to sound and a circular display that mirrors whatever is on the smartphone’s screen.

The company supplies a single Style Shell Mod with each phone, which can be had in various materials or finishes, such as leather, wood, or nylon. The few MotoMods which Motorola showcased are

Moto INSTA-Share Projector

Price: – $299

This is basically a mini projector that gets attached to your Moto Z back and lets you broadcast your phone’s display up to 70 inches wide at 480p resolution. With its integrated kickstand and a built-in battery to give you an hour of extra projector power, you can prop your phone up in a dark room and get up to a 70-inch screen. It has also got a built-in 1,100mAh battery, which should add an hour of projection time.

JBL SoundBoost Speaker

(MotoMods) JBL SoundBoost Speaker

Price: – $79.99

It’s two 3 watt speakers that get attached to the back of your phone. This Mod includes a kickstand and its battery OF 1,000mAh to offer up to 10 hours of booming sound at fairly louder volumes than the phone’s regular speaker. It can also be used as a speakerphone, and just if you need whomever you are talking to be nice and loud. These Mods requires no pairing or set up. Once it’s connected to the phone, sound just automatically pipes out of its speakers.

Incipio offGRID Power Packs

Price: – $89.99

This is a kind of additional battery attached and provides 22 hours of backup with its 2,200mAh capacity batteries. The Mods are integrated into the phone’s software. So when a battery mod is attached to the phone, you can monitor the charge status of both the internal battery and the mod’s cell. Later a new version will also be available, which will be having built-in support for wireless charging.

Hasselblad True Zoom camera Mod

Price: – $299

The camera Mod has a 10X optical zoom with xenon flash, and the 4.5 mm focal length on the wide end makes me think it’s probably a 1/1.7 to 1/2 inch sensor like in some recent premium compact cameras, giving you a field of view close to a 21 mm to 24 mm lens on a full-frame camera. It also has physical shutter and zoom buttons. Meanwhile, the 45 mm telephoto end would likely net you an equivalent field of view of around 210 mm to 240 mm.

Motorola promises more Mods will be coming soon. All thanks to partnerships with existing brands and the announcement of the Moto Mod Developer Kit. Moto says that the Mods announced will work with future series of Moto Z phones and that it is committed to the overall size and shape of the Z for at least two generations to ensure future compatibility. Moto is also offering a development kit for third-party companies to build Mods themselves.

Release Date in India

On the sidelines of the Moto E3 Power launch in India, Sudhin Mathur, Director – Mobile Group at Lenovo India, shared that the Moto Z will be launched in India in October. He didn’t share an exact date but said that it would be available to buy via the end of October.

  9. 45000,it is to expensive in india in my view cuz all indians prefer dual sim slot flagships ,and it has few drawbacks like it has only single sim slot, and main drawback is 3.5 mm jack it comes with differently, and u are not providing the extra creatives like jbl speakers , projector ,and charge booster, we have to buy it separately….moto z should be available for 20,000 and moto z force at a price range of 30,000.

  19. )will it have dedicated slots for sim 1 sim 2 and sd card
    2) will it have dual sim 4g support
    3) will the camera have lazer autofoxus system like g4 has
    4) the heat pipe will be available for both the models?
    5) will it support USB otg
    6) the battery will be removable?
    7) will the fast charger be provided with the box like moto g4
    8) will it have compass and finger print censor
9)moto has been giving 5mp front cams till date can we expect a little more now
    10) u people have make a big blunder in the moto g4 by giving the
fingerprint censor in the bottom center .look first off all u don’t provide the notification light and dedicated navigation keys and now u place that censor there which does not works as a home button this is awkward
either u put it in the back beneath the camera ( which u can do)
or u can give dedicated navigation keys on both side with home fingerprint censor in the bottom center ( which is not possible to be done by u as it will destroy ur so called moto design ) how ever these are not any aligations but the customers and lovers of moto will be pleased if u let us know something about it really I wish that moto fix these issues in their future phones
